“Follow up Hajj and ‘Umrah, because they eliminate poverty and sins just as the bellows removes impurities from iron.”
— Sunan al-Tirmidhi 810(Hasan)
How to Perform Umrah
Umrah is a sacred pilgrimage to the holy city of Makkah, performed by Muslims as an act of devotion and submission to Allah. Unlike Hajj, it is not obligatory but highly recommended and can be performed at any time of the year.
Umrah is a beautiful opportunity to purify the soul, seek forgiveness, and renew one’s commitment to faith. The Prophet Muhammad ï·º said:
“The performance of ‘Umrah is an expiation for the sins committed between it and the previous one.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari 1773)
Through a series of meaningful rituals — including entering into a state of Ihram, Tawaf (circumambulation of the Kaaba), Sa’i (walking between Safa and Marwa), and shaving or trimming the hair — Muslims symbolically return to a state of spiritual purity and humility.

Detailed Steps:

1. Entering Ihram:
This is a state of purity and dedication that pilgrims enter before performing Umrah. It involves wearing specific clothing (Ihram garments for men, and for women, any white or black clothing that fully covers their body except face and hands) and making the intention to perform Umrah. -
2. Tawaf:
Once in Mecca, pilgrims enter the Masjid al-Haram and perform Tawaf, which involves circling the Kaaba seven times in a counterclockwise direction.
-
3. Sa'i:
After Tawaf, pilgrims perform Sa'i, which involves walking seven times between the hills of Safa and Marwa.
-
4. Halq or Taqsir:
Finally, men shave their heads (Halq) or trim their hair (Taqsir), while women trim their hair.
