"It will be said to the companion of the Qur’an: ‘Recite and ascend, and recite as you used to recite in the world. For your rank will be at the last verse you recite.’"

How to Memorise The Quran

🚀 The 3x3 Method (Save Time, Build Accuracy)

Rather than repeating a verse 20+ times, the 3x3 method is about smart, structured repetition with active recall. Here's how it works:

✅ Step-by-Step Guide
  1. Choose the Verse
Pick the ayah (verse) you want to memorise first.

  2. Listen to a Qari
Listen to a skilled reciter to internalise proper pronunciation and rhythm.
    Recommendation: Shaykh Abdullah al-Juhany.

  3. Read the Verse from the Mushaf (Printed Quran) – 3 Times
This helps with visual familiarity and fluency. Guidance on which Mushaf to use here.

  4. Read the Verse from Memory – 3 Times
Look away and recite. Don’t worry about mistakes—this step builds recall strength.

  5. Move to the Next Verse
Repeat steps 1–4 for the next ayah.

  6. Link the Ayahs Together

    • Read the first and second verses together from the mushaf 3 times.

    • Then recite them both from memory 3 times.
This helps build flow and connection.

  7. Chunk It
Once you’ve memorised 3 ayahs or half a page, move on to the next part using the same steps.

📌 Tips for Success
  • Daily Routine: Stay consistent. Repetition over days locks in long-term memory.

  • Review Often: Begin each new session by reviewing the previous one.

  • Stay Fresh: Early mornings often work best for memorization.

  • Use tools and planners to help such as on howtomemorisethequran.com

💡 Why This Works

By using 3 focused reads + 3 active recalls per verse, you cut down the time it takes to memorise without losing accuracy or fluency. This method trains both your sight memory and recall ability, making memorisation smoother and more effective.
